Description
Meursault is in the heart of three villages in the Cote de Beaune, well known as the "Cote des Blancs". The vineyards of these villages, Meursault, Puligny and Chassasne spread over 7 km, characterized by a mosaic of limestone soil, Ideally suited to Chardonnay grapes. On the 430 hectares of vineyards, predominant with white wines, sorted in three classifications, Meursault, Meursault 1er Cru and Meursault Blagny, a 33% is classified in 1er Cru.
The vineyards of Genevrieres equal a total of 16 hectares In the heart of the Meursault 1er Crus, south of the village. The name of this appellation comes from the juniper trees that used to grow there a long time ago. It is sometimes said that the taste of the flowers of this tree used to be felt in the wine.
