Argiano has five centuries of history in the Montalcino region, and was a founding member of the Brunello Consortium in 1967. The 2018 Brunello recently was the #1 Wine Spectator wine of the year!
Giacomo Tachis, the world famous oenologist, started working with Argiano in 1992. A unique partnership was formed which brought the creation of Solengo, one of the great Super-Tuscan of Montalcino. The first vintage of Solengo was produced in 1995.
Argiano practices an organic and sustainable method of agriculture. It believes in the balance of biodiversity and strives to attain it, through techniques aiming to soil fertility, implementing with natural products like weeds and bee propolis,
Extensive renovations were made to the 16th century cellar, redefining the ageing techniques and creating large underground bottle-ageing cellars. The renewal is continuing in the vineyard, with expansion of the Sangiovese and the use of new techniques to enhance the primary aspects of the terroir.
