We are thrilled to introduce you to two remarkable Italian wine varieties: Broglia Gavi and Aia dei Colombi Falanghina.. These wines possess distinct characteristics that showcase the rich heritage and craftsmanship of Italian winemaking.
Nestled in the picturesque region of Piedmont, Italy, lies the enchanting wine-growing area of Gavi. Made from the Cortese grape variety, Broglia Gavi offers a refreshing and crisp taste profile, perfect for warmer days or as an aperitif. Its pale straw color and delicate floral and citrus aromas create a captivating sensory experience. With its vibrant acidity and harmonious balance, Broglia Gavi pairs beautifully with seafood, light pasta dishes, and fresh salads.
Falanghina is an ancient white varietal grown in the Campania region surrounding and east of Naples. Traditionally this white wine has been drunk with the exceptional seafood of the area. Like any “newfound” ancient grape, there are many modern versions that tilt towards the international style of overripe and excessively heavy wines. This is not the case with the Aia dei Colombi Falanghina.
2023 Gavi 'Il Doge'
Il Doge is produced from the youngest vines and is characterized by its particular acidity, freshness and drinkability. Its name is reminiscent of Piedmont and the Doges of the Genovese Republic.
The color is pale straw yellow with green highlights. The bouquet on the nose is fine and delicate with notes of peach, apple and grapefruit, together with hints of anise and white flowers. The palate is fresh, dry and elegant with a lingering finish.
2023 Falanghina del Sannio
Grapes are hand-harvested normally in the second half of September. Quickly pressed, the grape must is then fermented at cool temperatures to lock in the aromatics and aged in stainless steel vats for 5-6 months.
The resulting wine shows intriguing mineral, citrus and floral notes in the nose. A perfect white for fish and shellfish, on the palate, the minerals shine through backed up with good acidity and medium weight. The finish is both tense and persistent.
